In the presence of Hon. Dwomoh Mensah Robert (DCE, Asutifi South), Mrs Konadu (Director of Health, Asutifi South), Dr. Boakye Boateng (Director of Health, Ahafo Region), staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital (Hwidiem), and Hon. Yaw Owusu-Brempong, the Asutifi South NPP Parliamentary Candidate, a brief ceremony has been held to formally present the Asutifi South constituency ambulance to the health facility.
The ambulance is part of the 307 ambulances recently procured and distributed under President Akufo-Addo's 'One Constituency One Ambulance' initiative, and which was officially handed over to the constituency yesterday.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Yaw Owusu-Brempong recounted countless number of times referral patients have had to took in vain for an ambulance. He termed the intervention a life saver and called for it to be maintained well. He also assured the hospital that, in addition to the ultramodern ward he built for the facility, he was poised to do more, for the love of Asutifi South and Ahafo.
The honourable DCE, Dwomoh M. Robert, announced that, aside the provision of the state-of-the-art vehicle, additional 2 rural clinics, 2 weighing centres, 1 CHP compound, and some other facilities have been put up, under the Nana Addo-led NPP government, to boost health delivery in the Asutifi South district.
The newly appointed director of health for Ahafo, Dr. Boakye Boateng, praised the provision of the ambulance, called for a dutiful maintenance culture, and requested the allocation of more resources to the sector, so as to motivate staff of the service.
